escape - jungles & rivers in India

From the foothills of the Himalaya to the tip of the Western Ghats in the south much of India is covered in dense forests and tropical jungle. As well as supporting a wealth of wildlife, they provide fertile soils for spices, nuts, coffee and tropical fruit cultivation. Close by you are certain to find waterfalls and rivers which form a lifeline for many small villages and settlements along their course. The Ganges, Yamuna, Brahmaputra, and many other rivers are sacred to Hindus being central to their ceremonies from birth to death.

For the visitor they provide great places to visit and for the more adventurous a chance to take a white knuckle rafting trip.
